Before we can truly help others, we must first work on ourselves. A good teacher is not simply someone who has knowledge, but someone who has faced their own struggles, pursued healing, developed wisdom and discernment, and learned to put Truth into practice.
Scripture calls us to remain watchful and prepared - to "be counted worthy to escape all the things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21-36). Prepare yourself first. Then take what you have learned, lived, and overcome, and use it to help others.
